Advocacies, reforms deserve a boost

This season, let’s pray for renewed vigor and optimism in pushing for much-needed advocacies and reforms, so we can truly benefit from the output of our artists and “creatives” and—everybody wins!

Topping our list of must-dos is our nation’s need to realize its authentic strength and worth, by facing up to and finally rising above our “deathless” colonial mentality.

Specifically, in the field of arts and entertainment, we have to realize that, contrary to our colonizers’ psychologically corrosive teaching, “foreign” is not inherently superior to local.

All parties involved should address and solve this basic problem as soon as possible, or the indie “wave” will end up as a wet whimper.

On TV, unprofessional or irresponsible situations and conditions urgently need to be mitigated, led by a lack of balanced programming. And we have to belatedly discover and collectively use our immense viewer power to effect much-needed reforms!
