Hit sequel
After 15 years, they’re still a phenomenon. The original cast of 2002’s “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” headed by Nia Vardalos and John Corbett, are back together and basking in the success of their new starrer, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.” The sequel is the highest-grossing romantic comedy this summer.
This time around, the characters they play, Toula and Ian, have a teenage daughter, so they have to contend with her issues, aside from making themselves available to Toula’s aging parents!
‘Born To Be A Star’
Viva Communications, discoverer of many major Filipino performing stars, continues to hone tomorrow’s singing luminaries by way of its TV5 talent tilt, “Born To Be A Star,” aired Saturdays and hosted by Ogie Alcasid. Celebrity judges are Pops Fernandez, Aiza Seguerra, Andrew E and Rico Blanco.
At stake is a total of P3 million in prizes, including a Viva Artists Agency management contract. TV5 can also be viewed on Cignal channel 5, Destiny channel 5 and 10, and SkyCable channel 10.

‘Midnight Special’
The new sci-fi thriller, “Midnight Special,” will open in Metro Manila on April 20, exclusively at the Cinema 2000 group of theaters at Century City, Commercenter, Eastwood, Festival Mall and Shang Cineplex. The film is about a father (Michael Shannon) who goes on the run to protect his young son (Jaeden Lieberker), who has mysterious powers that nobody can fully comprehend.

‘Bastille Day’
In “Bastille Day,” Richard Madden (“Game of Thrones”) plays an American pickpocket living in Paris who finds himself hunted by the CIA when he steals a bag belonging to an agent played by Idris Elba (“Prometheus”). Later, the agent realizes that the pickpocket is his best asset in uncovering a large-scale conspiracy.
‘Captain America: Civil War’
Chris Evans and other stars of “Captain America: Civil War” will visit Singapore with director Joe Russo to promote the highly anticipated Marvel release at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore’s Ice Skating Rink, on April 21. The film opens in the Philippines on April 27.
