Music icon Tom Jones promises to perform new songs in Manila concert

Admit it—at one point we’ve all sang or perhaps even busted a few moves to the tune of Tom Jones’ classic ‘Sexbomb’.
Filipino fans would once again have the change to get serenaded by the the legendary Welsh singer as he graces the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, April 2, after two decades.

Sir Thomas Jones Woodward, who goes by Tom Jones, told members of the local media on Friday afternoon about what to expect from his performance.
“They [the fans] can expect some new songs and some old songs, a mixture of material and it’s going to be very exciting,” said the 75-year old singer.
Jones also recalled mentoring a Filipino contestant during his stint as a judge of the esteemed singing competition, ”The Voice UK.”
“On my team was a Filipino singer. He was excellent, very very good. I met his parents, and they came from Manila and they asked me when I’m coming back, I said as soon as possible”.
“So I’m so pleased to be back—finally with a strong voice,” said Jones, regarding a botched Philippine concert in 2010 after losing his voice due to laryngitis.
Meanwhile, Jones, whose full-throated baritone voice sold over 100 million records, found it hard to pick a favorite song among his classics.
“Well, a lot of them. My first hit was ‘It’s Not Unusual’ so that’s always the most important because it changed my life. But there’s a lot, ‘Delilah”, the “Green, green grass of Home’, ‘Sex Bomb’, they’re all important songs”.
