Another ‘wicked’ role for Princess Punzalan
PUNZALAN. Brocka molded her into the effective actress she has become.
US-based actress Princess Punzalan is in town to play the mother of Xian Lim in “The Story of Us.” The actress first made her mark in a teleserye when she portrayed the wicked Selena in “Mula Sa Puso” many years ago.
How did she prepare for her new character, Claudette, and how different is she from Selena? Princess explains, “I read the script and scrutinized the character. I wanted to find out where her pain was coming from, so I could deliver a realistic portrayal. Selena is capable of killing to get what she wants, but Claudette wasn’t.”
Princess gives credit to the late Lino Brocka for molding her into the effective actress she has become. She said she enjoyed working with series leads, Xian and Kim Chiu. But, she has no regrets leaving show biz to raise a family of her own.
