Comedian Atak Arana grateful for being Direk Wenn Deramas’ ‘true friend’
Comedian Atak Arana said he is thankful for being director Wenn Deramas’ “true friend” and expressed surprise over the latter’s death as there were no apparent signs of his passing.
“We were together the night before (Saturday) for a taping near ABS-CBN. We packed up early in the morning,” said Arana.

Afterward, the comedian said that the wife of Deramas’ driver texted, informing that the director’s sister could not breathe so she was rushed to the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.
He said that Deramas ordered another driver to check the status of his sister who said that she was being revived.
Article continues after this advertisement“We were laughing because we thought he (the driver) was just mistaken in saying ‘revive.’ Then, direk became bothered and said he had to go to the hospital.”
Article continues after this advertisementAt first, Arana said that the doctor was not disclosing the real condition of the director’s sister. Afterward, they were told that she was in a critical condition and that there was no chance of reviving her.
“Direk has accepted that because his sister has undergone dialysis but because he really loves her, he cried hard. We tried to comfort him because he was about to collapse. We offered him to sit down. When he sat down, he told me he couldn’t breathe. And just like that, he was gone,” said the comedian.

Although the director was rushed to the hospital last December due to a heart problem, the comedian said his death came as a surprise.
Arana only has good words to say on Deramas: “Thank you so much, Direk, because you gave me my career and a chance of a new life… I will continue doing good things because of you.” RAM
