MALACAÑANG has extended its congratulations to filmmaker Ronnie del Carmen on the victory of the animated film, “Inside Out,” at the 88th Academy Awards, saying he showed the “talent and creative genius” of the Filipino.
“Inside Out” won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film at the award ceremonies on Monday.
“We extend our congratulations to Ronnie del Carmen, codirector of the Oscar award-winning animated film, ‘Inside Out.’ His achievement exemplifies the talent and creative genius of the Filipino that continues to reap global recognition,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a statement.
Del Carmen, 55, is from Cavite and now lives in San Francisco with his family.
The animator-director codirected the Disney/Pixar film that tackles the different emotions—joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust—that a young person experiences as she goes through adolescence.
Despite its being an animated movie, the film’s central message about the different phases a person goes through in life as he grows up strikes a deep chord in adult audiences.
