CHRISTIAN Bautista

CHRISTIAN Bautista

Christian Bautista continues to make waves in Indonesia and the rest of Southeast Asia. The dashing crooner is fresh from Jakarta, where he had a successful Valentine show. He also guested in top-rating Indonesian shows.

Here’s my tête-à-tête with Christian:

What’s more fulfilling, performing for an Indonesian or Filipino audience?

FEATURED STORIES

Both. No matter where I am singing, it’s always fulfilling.

Would you consider relocating to Indonesia to pursue a full-time singing career?

Anything is possible, but as of now, I don’t think I can leave home for a long time.

How do you deal with aggressive fans?

Aggressively. Just kidding. I try my best to be patient.

What was the craziest thing a fan did to you on or offstage?

A fan jumped on me while I was singing. Offstage, someone tried to grab my ear.

Any rituals before a concert?

I jump up and down for energy.

What’s your song for yourself these days?

“The Way You Look at Me.”

What do you wish you were good at?

Dancing.

What are your thoughts on marriage and fidelity?

You should always aim to be honest and full of love.

When do you plan to settle down?

Not in my agenda yet.

Are good singers born, not made?

Some are born; some are made with the help of voice lessons.

What has fame taught you?

To always strive to be the best version of myself.

Madly Madonna

Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” Tour is too awesome for words. Super-duper thanks to my friends at Globe, especially EJ Francisco.

Could it be true that her concert during the first night started so late (10:45 p.m., instead of 8 p.m.) because Madonna wasn’t too pleased with the layout of the stage (shaped like a sword/cross with a heart at the tip)?

According to a concert scene insider, the iconic singer wanted the stage to be longer. At one point during the show, she sighed: “It feels like I’m singing to that wall in front of me.”

She also sounded a bit disappointed after the “La Vie en Rose” number. Madonna lamented: “Anywhere I perform in the world, they wave their lighted phones when I sing that song. Didn’t you charge your batteries?”

She also refused to get the bunch of roses a fan was offering to her.

That’s her prerogative as a “Queen.” Be that as it may, her performance was worth the long wait.

After the concert, I was pleasantly surprised to hear my forever idol, Michael Jackson’s hits, “Smooth Criminal” and “Rock With You,” being played in the arena.

Maybe it was the Queen of Pop’s way of paying homage to the “King of Pop.”

Take a bow, Madonna. We will always be crazy for you. Stay “bitchily” beautiful with a rebel heart.

OPM forever

OPM fans unite every Saturday night and catch TV5’s “MTV Top 20 Pilipinas,” hosted by VJ Aryanna.

The two-hour show highlights the hottest OPM songs in the country, based on requests and radio airplay.
