The stars of the hit teen movie trilogy “High School Musical” are back as they celebrate the movie’s 10th year anniversary.

Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman reunited in a Los Angeles gymnasium for a TV special which will air on January 20 (US time).

However, Zac Efron was not in the taping but will join the special episode through a pre-taped message.

The “High School Musical” stars gushed about their reunion on their respective Twitter accounts, with Hudgens and Tisdale describing the experience as “surreal.”

“High School Musical” first aired in the US on January 20, 2006 and was watched there by 7.7 million viewers—then the highest ratings posted by any show on the Disney Channel. It received two Emmy Awards and the distinction of being the first TV soundtrack to climb to the number one spot of the Billboard Top 200 chart.

It then spawned two more films: High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year. AJH/JE
