Take this Western man in New York who legally changed his name last year to Darth Vader, the ultimate villain in the “Star Wars” franchise, as reported by the Democrat and Chronicle of Rocherster posted by the website m.aol.com via Associated Press.
According to the said report, former Eric Welch of Canandaigua, a 43-year-old tattooed former Marine who owns a gym, chose such name “because the character carries an aura of leadership and toughness.”
The fan reportedly shows his “toughness” by joining endurance events and half-marathons and fighting leukemia, a disease he has been diagnosed with since 2002. To prepare for his bone marrow transplant, he is now raising funds online.
The same report said that a spokesperson for the Department of Motor Vehicles confirmed that Darth vader is the man’s legal name.
The fan did not have firm connections with his original name as he grew up in foster homes, the report said. RAM
