#AldubEBTamangPanahon is Twitter’s 3rd top trending topic for TV in 2015

A hashtag of the phenomenal on-screen love team of actor Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza emerged as the third most talked about trending topic in Twitter under the television category in 2015.

The social networking and microblogging site has released its #YearOnTwitter list of top trends (2015.twitter.com) for the year under various categories, namely TV, music, technology, news, politics, sports, pastimes, stars, and emojis.

The hashtag “#AlDubEBTamangPanahon” was used by noontime show “Eat Bulaga” during its “Sa Tamang Panahon” event at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan last Oct. 24.

It drew a record-breaking 41 million tweets from Oct. 23 to 25, beating AlDub’s previous record of 26 million tweets last Sept. 25 and the 35.6 million tweets during the Brazil vs Germany World Cup semi-final last July 8. 2014.

Tickets for the said show were sold out in just two days after the announcement of selling. The Philippine Arena, which holds the world record as the biggest multipurpose indoor arena, has a seating capacity of 55,000.

The AlDub hashtag trailed behind #KCA (Nickelodean’s Kids’ Choice Awards) and #TeenChoice (Teen Choice Awards) as the top trending topics in television. Other hashtags in the list were for the American Music Awards, hit US series The Walking Dead, Empire, and Pretty Little Liars. YG
