Mocha Girls willing to quit sexy shows for Duterte

How far will one go to support a presidential candidate?

For the all-girl singing and dancing group Mocha Girls, they are willing to end their career if that would help the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte clinch the presidency.

In a post on their Facebook page last November 27 which has since gone viral, the girls said that they are willing to put the needs of the country first before theirs.

“May nag comment po at sabi bat daw namin sinusuportahan si Duterte sa pag ka pangulo dahil daw pag sya ang naging pangulo isasara daw ang mga bar at mawawalan kami ng trabaho dahil bawal daw ang sexy performers, sabihin na natin kung eto man ay totoo, kami po ay handang tumigil mag sexy show para lang maging presidente si Duterte, we will sacrifice our career for our country to have a genuine change. Bayan muna bago ang sarili,” the post read.

(Someone commented that why would we say that we support Duterte for president, since if he becomes president, bars will be closed and we would lose our jobs because sexy performers would be banned. Supposing that this is true, we are willing to stop doing sexy shows just so Duterte would be president, we will sacrifice our career for our country to have genuine change. Country before self.)

The girls were seen holding a t-shirt with the words “Duterte 2016” printed on it.

The group is also distributing Duterte “baller bracelets” during their shows as a sign of support for the candidacy of the Davao City mayor.

The post has since been “liked” by more than 43,000 people and shared by more than 3,600 times.

Duterte made his intention to run for president official last Friday when he withdrew his certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection as Davao City mayor and filed a COC for president before the Commision on Elections through lawyer Salvador Medialdea.

His national platform of government includes the reduction of crimes, shifting the system of government to federalism and strengthen the country’s judicial system. AJH
