Matteo: Relationship with Sarah still going strong
“Don’t just think of today—plan for the future,” said Matteo Guidicelli when asked what he thought was the secret to a lasting relationship. The actor-triathlete insisted that his relationship with Sarah Geronimo is going strong.
“We don’t know what will happen next, but of course Sarah and I both wish for our love to last forever. What we’re preparing for today is what we’re going to share with each other in the future,” Matteo pointed out.
The ABS-CBN contract artist is the newest ambassador of Sun Life Asset Management Co. Inc., which recently launched a multimedia campaign, called “Slam the Scam,” against investment scams.
Matteo will star in a series of videos to discuss tips on how to spot an investment scam. He agreed to take part in the campaign because he considers it an important cause. “It’s a chance for me to use my influence to help Filipinos working abroad, so they will not get victimized,” he explained.
Excerpts from our chat with Matteo:
Article continues after this advertisementHave you already saved enough to raise a family of your own?
Article continues after this advertisementI’ve been trying to save as much as I can, with the help of my parents, since I was 16. I’ve also invested in properties. I have a small business in Cebu where I will soon put up a restaurant.
While I am confident that I already have enough to provide for my own family, I’m not contented yet.
Do you want a big family?
Not really, but I want a happy one. Sarah and I haven’t talked about this yet. There are still so many things that I’d like to do. I want to first make my stable strong, so to speak, in preparation for that time in our lives.
Will you build a big house for her?
What I want is a simple home. I want to be able to see my family every day, every time, and that could be difficult to do in a huge house. I want my kids to grow up in an environment that’s safe and secure.
Are you generous in giving gifts?
It’s important to give back, but I don’t really spend on expensive gifts. I believe in giving something more meaningful—I know that a handwritten letter will mean more to Sarah than an expensive bag, especially if it’s five pages long. Yes, I spend on dates. If a girl deserves it, I will give everything to her just to make her feel special.
What do you hope to achieve in your concert, “MG1,” at the Music Museum on Nov. 28?
Everything about this concert is a journey of love. It will be a night of music—my first love. I’ve been wanting to do this for many years, and I’m finally doing it. I am also very excited because my first-ever album will be launched in mid-November.
I’m feeling the jitters because the concert is fast approaching, but I trust the team I’m with so much—Star Music and Hills and Dreams Events Concepts—so I’m feeling confident, as well. Martin Nievera is my main writer for the show. Morissette Amon is my guest performer; Marvin Querido, my musical director, and Frank Lloyd Mamaril, my director.
Will Sarah be there?
We haven’t spoken about it yet. We know that she has a concert a week after that.
