LONDON — Is the long wait almost over for Adele fans?

Four years after her last album, the singer appears to have teased British television viewers with a snippet of new music, broadcast during an ad break on prime-time TV.

The 30-second ad shown Sunday evening during TV talent show “The X Factor” featured Adele’s distinctive tones over a black screen on which heartache-filled lyrics appeared.

The ad ended with an ellipsis and contained neither Adele’s name nor a release date for a new album.

The London-born diva won six Grammy Awards for her 2011 album “21,” and took home an Academy Award for the theme to the 2012 James Bond film “Skyfall.”

Adele’s publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
