50th MMFF entries, ‘Hello Love Again’ to be screened at 2025 MIFF in Los Angeles
The 10 entries of the 50th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) along with well-loved Filipino flicks will be screened at the upcoming Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), which will be held in Los Angeles, California.
The second iteration of the MIFF will take place from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2 and will feature an opening press conference and screenings at the TCL Chinese Theatre. It will close with an awards ceremony and gala at the four-star Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Other events included in the festival are a tour at the Directors’ Guild of America headquarters, panel discussions, roundtable interviews, and film-related presentations, as announced on its official website.
The MMFF films that will be screened are “The Kingdom,” “And the Breadwinner Is…,” “Green Bones,” “Isang Himala,” “Hold Me Close,” “My Future You,” “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital,” “Espantaho,” “Topakk” and “Uninvited.”
The festival will also showcase beloved Filipino films including “Hello, Love, Again,” the 1950 biopic “Genghis Khan,” the 1938 film “Filipinos in America” and the indie drama film “The Debut,” which is helmed by Filipino-American filmmaker Gene Cajayon.
Article continues after this advertisementOther films to be screened at the second MIFF include the documentary “Nurse Unseen” and “Song of the Fireflies” starring Morissette, Rachel Alejandro, Krystal Brimner and Noel Comia Jr., which will have its world premiere in the festival, among others.
Article continues after this advertisementThe first edition of the MIFF was held in Hollywood, California, and was graced by Dingdong Dantes, Janella Salvador, Piolo Pascual, and other Filipino celebrities.
According to its official website, the overseas-held festival aims to “connect the Philippine entertainment industry with that of Hollywood and the international stage.” The MIFF also hopes to promote the Filipino film industry and what it can offer in a wider platform.
