Actor Alden Richards got emotional while recording the song “God Gave Me You” for his second studio album.

In a snippet of the recording uploaded on YouTube by GMA Records, Richards was seen crying and covering his eyes at the end of the video.

“God Gave Me You,” which was originally sang by Grammy award-winning country artist Bryan White, is considered as the love anthem of Richards’ “AlDub” tandem with Maine Mendoza or Yaya Dub in Eat Bulaga’s hit “Kalyeserye” segment.

Richards first sang the song live during Eat Bulaga’s Sept. 26 episode, before going to Lola Nidora’s (portrayed by Wally Bayola) mansion for his second date with Mendoza. The actor was also in tears while singing the love anthem, which he dedicated to Mendoza.

The record-breaking episode’s official hashtag #AlDubEBforLove garnered more than 25 million tweets on Twitter.

White, who said he was “humbled and honored” as he thanked the AlDub pair for using his song, recently announced in his social media pages that he will be in Manila on Dec. 1 for a concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The singer also thanked his Filipino fans in a Facebook video in September for making his 1999 song a hit in the Philippines.

“It’s crazy how 15 or how many years later, it’s becoming a really big success in your country. I can’t thank you enough for your support… I just can’t believe how music travels and you just never know where it’s gonna end up and what’s gonna happen with it,” he said. YG/JE
