“Eat Bulaga” mainstay Joey de Leon and Broadway star Lea Salonga have made peace with each other following an online rift that rooted from the latter’s controversial tweet about shallowness.
Salonga on Thursday took to Twitter to thank De Leon for supposedly giving her the benefit of the doubt regarding her tweet last Saturday, which read: “Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo?”

Salonga’s tweet on Sept. 26 drew strong reactions from netizens, with others inferring that it was an allusion to the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, a product of Eat Bulaga’s hit “Kalyeserye” segment. The singer denied the assumptions that she was referring to “AlDub.”
De Leon reacted to Salonga’s tweet on his Twitter account: “Hindi naman pala daw AlDub pinatatamaan ni Lea. Baka naman ‘yung kabila? Nagtatanong lang po.”
After five days, Salonga responded to De Leon’s reaction to her tweet: “Hi, Tito Joey, I’ll take this to mean that you’re at least giving me the benefit of the doubt. For that, thank you very much,” Salonga said.
The comedian-host shrugged off the issue, telling Salonga that they should start “a whole new world” instead.
“Hi Lea, no worries. Wala na ‘yon! Magsimula na lang tayong lahat ng A WHOLE NEW WORLD! Mabuhay ka!” De Leon said.
Salonga then extended her regards to the Eat Bulaga family:
“Same to you!!! My best to everyone in EB Land!!!” YG
