A Catholic priest on Tuesday reminded fans and viewers of the hit “Kalyeserye” segment of “Eat Bulaga” to absorb the lessons and values being conveyed by the love team of actors Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, also known as “AlDub.”

Fr. Kunegundo Garganta, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)-Episcopal Commission on Youth, said viewers should not merely focus on the “kilig factor” of the phenomenal “AlDub” tandem, but also on its message on morality.

The priest said viewers should know how to balance and distinguish reality from virtual reality.

Noting the importance of responsible viewership, Garganta said AlDub fans should exercise caution in evaluating the characters in “Kalyeserye,” adding that they should not be swayed by mere entertainment value.

The CBCP and individual members of the Catholic hierarchy have previously lauded the AlDub loveteam for “supporting the noble cause of spreading virtue, values and morality that our nation deserves.” YG/RC
