Marriage has made Heart Evangelista a happier woman and a better actress. She sizzles in GMA 7’s powerful drama series, “Beautiful Strangers” (weeknights after “MariMar”). It delves into the games that fate plays and the battles of love a heart must endure.

Strangers-turned-frenemies, Joyce (Lovi Poe) and Cristine (Heart) figure in a tale that has lessons for all of us. Being hooked on the show, I pondered the kindness of strangers, the boundaries of friendship and the sacrifices that love entails.

Here’s my tête-à-tête with Heart:

What does your hubby Chiz (Escudero) think of your character and portrayal? ”

He always asks, “Should I watch tonight? Is this the scene you’re referring to?” He’s very supportive. It’s funny because he tries memorizing my lines.

How do you and Chiz resolve arguments?

I think our love for each other overpowers disagreements. We’re open-minded. It’s not hard to understand each other.

How are you and Chiz adjusting to your new schedule?

Chiz is very supportive, even when he’s preoccupied. He is not the type to get upset when I’m busy. If you really love each other, you make time. We have weekends, and other days if I’m not working, I make sure to prepare a hot meal for him.

You’re paired with Lovi’s beau Rocco Nacino. What was her reaction?

None. Lovi and I, we go way back. When it comes to those things, we are very open. We trust each other. In fact, I was the one who felt awkward when Rocco and I kissed for a scene. She was just laughing in the corner! Our friendship is strong.

How intense is your rivalry with Lovi’s character in the series?

Very intense. But hopefully, at the end of the story, friendship will still prevail.

How has marriage changed you?

A lot. It has opened my eyes to reality. You have to learn how to cook! But sincerely, it has made me more patient, more understanding, more selfless, more the woman I am supposed to be.

What have you learned about Chiz after you got married?

His being organized. And his focus on household chores. He changes lightbulbs. He likes to cook paella, adobo and other dishes.

What are your cheap thrills?

I like street food like kwek-kwek and fish balls.

When do you and Chiz plan to have kids and how many do you want?

Maybe two years from now, and maybe at least one or two kids.

Unique, humorous show

Who couldn’t relate to “Kano Luvs Pinay?” If you’re someone who has been called names, enjoys gatherings, eats several times a day, works hard for the family, loves wholeheartedly regardless of race or differences, or laughs like you don’t have any problem—then this show is perfect for you.

From classic Pinoy names like “Dong”, “Osang” and “Jon-Jon” to the American versions of Pinoy words like lechon (“leechun”), adobo (“adobe”) or papaitan (“pay-tun”), TV5’s Saturday nights are hilarious with a heartwarming twist in “Kano Luvs Pinay.” Its unique and humorous take on the realities of interracial relationships, Filipino values and culture, family and parenthood and the romance between Cookie (Tuesday Vargas) and Matthew (Lee O’Brien) inspires both “kilig” and laughter worthy of our Saturday nights. The show airs 9 p.m. on TV5.

‘V’ Manila

American band Maroon 5 showered fans—including Smart and Spinnr subscribers—with hits during the band’s “V” Manila concert at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sept. 17.

Front man Adam Levine called the Filipino crowd “amazing singers” several times during the show.

Prior to Maroon 5, Spinnr gave away free VIP passes to Ariana Grande’s recent “Honeymoon” concert, while lucky Imagine Dragons fans were also treated to VIP tickets and meet-and-greets, during the band’s “Smoke + Mirrors” tour. The fun “Mystery Manila” contest also granted free VIP tickets to some lucky “Arianators.”
