From “Arrow” to “Gotham” to “The Flash,” it seems that Warner TV has encountered a “Blindspot.”

The cable channel that boasts an all-star lineup of shows now introduces a different crime drama. To call it mysterious would be an understatement.

Who is Jane Doe? That is exactly what everyone wants to find out, the mystery woman included. Jane, played by Jaimie Alexander, suddenly emerges out of a duffel bag right at the center of Times Square, naked and her body covered in tattoos.

Alexander’s tattoos take up to seven hours to complete so she opted for them to stay on her skin for days. She described playing the “Blindspot” character to the LA Times as “a pretty wild ride.”

Although her memory fails her in the pilot episode, Jane Doe is not entirely helpless, as she remembers how to fight and, more importantly, fire a gun.

What makes this new TV series different? During the launch, Warner TV’s Marianne Lee, vice president for content of Turner International (Asia Pacific), was asked about what separated “Blindspot” from the rest.

“There’s a strong female lead,” Lee told the Inquirer. “She’s smart, she’s sexy.” But the clincher will always be the mystery behind her tattoos.

Clues to crimes

Lee added that the body art provides clues to crimes. The tattoos are like “pieces of a puzzle,” according to Kurt Weller, a character played by Sullivan Stapleton. He sees his name inked on the woman’s back.

Aside from the story, Lee added that another selling point is the fact that this show is produced by acclaimed producer Greg Berlanti.

Berlanti is a WGA (Writers Guild of America), DGA (Directors Guild of America) and Golden Globe-nominated writer, director, and producer. His TV credits include the aforementioned “Arrow” and “The Flash,” and the coming “Legends of Tomorrow” and the “Green Lantern” film, to name a few.

“It’s kinda scary for someone as young as he is and yet he has so many successful shows on so many TV networks,” Lee said of Berlanti. “Everybody wants to work with him!”
