Brillante Mendoza’s ‘Taklub’ in London film fest

Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s “Taklub” will be shown in the Debate section of the BFI (British Film Institute) London Film Festival, on Oct. 13 (ICA Cinema) and 15 (BFI Southbank). On the fest’s website, critic Ian Haydn Smith describes the Filipino film on Supertyphoon “Yolanda” survivors as “a compassionate portrait… a moving testament to the community’s spirit of rejuvenation,” and lead actor Nora Aunor as  “wonderful… [her character] represents hope.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
