Beatboxer tops tilt
ZSARIS Mendioro, a 27-year-old loop artist, beatboxer and guitarist, was declared winner of this year’s Mossimo Music Summit during the talent tilt’s recent grand finals at TriNoma Activity Center in Quezon City.
Mendioro, who was a virtual one-woman band, performed Pharell’s “Happy” and Rivermaya’s “Himala” in the first and second rounds of competition, respectively. “I didn’t think this would be possible … I did and sacrificed a lot just so I could continue using my talent to create music,” she said in a post on Instagram.
Also part of Pinopela, the winning vocal ensemble in last year’s Akapela Open, Mendioro took home P200,000 cash, P300,000 worth of gift certificates from Mossimo, and a management contract with Curve Entertainment.
Mendioro bested three other finalists: singers Kristel Herrera and Mark Francis Reyes; and acoustic trio OTM. Allan Policarpio
