‘Inside Out’ opens locally at No. 1

“Inside Out” topped Metro Manila movie houses’ gross income on its opening week, with P92 million in five days, the biggest local Disney/Pixar opening weekend of all time. It benefited from the Manila press tour of codirectors, Pete Docter and Ronnie del Carmen, two weeks ago. The film opened in the US with $92 million, the biggest debut ever for an original film.

Primer Group and the UP Mountaineers Club recently held disaster preparedness talks at Recreational Outdoor Exchange in Taguig City, the second year the seminars have been conducted. Universal’s epic adventure, “Everest,” directed by Baltasar Kormákur, will be the opening film of the 72nd Venice Film Festival on Sept. 2. The survival saga topbills Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright and Keira Knightley. The film opens in the Philippines on Sept. 16.

Spielberg directs again

Any film by Steven Spielberg is an event, so movie buffs are looking forward to watching his new masterwork, a sci-fi adventure titled “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller.
