Superstar’s gift
Once again, acclaimed actress Nora Aunor, known as the country’s Superstar, was honored by a learning institution. After the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Ateneo de Naga, De La Salle Taft, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Quezon City Public School Teachers Association, it was the Far Eastern University’s (FEU) turn to recognize the Superstar’s achievements in culture and the arts last Aug. 18, in time for Linggo ng Wika (National Language Week) and as part of its Aykon: The FEU Conversation Series. She later met a young student who gifted her with an engraved portrait. “The kid was so awed that he could barely speak and wept buckets,” recalled Boy Palma, Aunor’s manager. “I value each recognition wholeheartedly, especially when it comes from a new generation of students who didn’t really witness my time,” the Superstar told the Inquirer.
