FILIPINO filmmaker Lav Diaz will be honored with a retrospective of his films in four countries—spanning three continents.
First stop is the Korean Film Archive in Seoul, South Korea. After screenings in May, June, July and early August, his films will be shown on Sept. 5 (“Death in the Land of Encantos”), Oct. 3 (“Melancholia”), Nov. 7 (“Century of Birthing”) and Dec. 6 (“Florentina Hubaldo, CTE”).
His works will also be featured at the Jeau de Paume in Paris, France: “Storm Children, Book One” (Nov. 3 and 21), “Butterflies Have No Memories” and “An Investigation on the Night That Won’t Forget” (Nov. 6), “Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino” (Nov. 7 and 24), “Heremias, Book One: The Legend of the Lizard Princess” (Nov. 10), “Mula sa Kung Ano ang Noon” (Nov. 13 and Dec. 4), “Melancholia” (Nov. 17), “Florentina Hubaldo” (Nov. 20 and 28), “Batang West Side” (Nov. 21 and 27), “Death in the Land” (Dec. 1), “Century of Birthing” (Dec. 5).
There will also be screenings at the Cinematek Belgium in Brussels on Nov. 11 (“Hubad sa Ilalim ng Buwan,” “Batang West Side,” “Hesus, Rebolusyonaryo,” “Ebolusyon,” “Heremias”), Nov. 12 (“Death in the Land,” “Melancholia,” “Prologo sa ang Dakilang Desaparecido” and “Butterflies”), Nov. 13 (“Century of Birthing,” “An Investigation on the Night,” “Florentina Hubaldo,” “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan,” “Mula sa Kung Ano,” “Storm Children”).
