For weeks now, we’ve been watching the current edition of “Pinoy Big Brother” off and on—but enough to conclude that it’s the most “appealing” talent and personality tilt that ABS-CBN has mounted.

We say this because, compared to past editions, the 2015 tilt is fielding many potential “stars of tomorrow.” Their good looks are the top attraction, of course—but, it’s also clear that the present batch is younger than ever, with 12-year-old Bailey leading the field.

In fact, it’s looking like Bailey is the tilt’s top bet for popularity, as proven by the fact that he’s been “saved” from ejection by huge numbers of votes. Other popular starlets include Barbie (already ejected) and Kenzo.

To make Bailey more attention-worthy, he’s also been made to become more controversial, like his infatuation with the much older Barbie, his inappropriate query about somebody still being a virgin—and his (misinterpreted) closeness to another male comer.

Next in controversial contention is Barbie—but, she’s been voted out, so is that The End for her and her dream of show biz stardom? Not necessarily:

If memory serves, some past editions of “PBB” fielded bets like the then little-known Sam Milby, and after he was made to exit from the program, he had already become “popular enough” to (successfully) launch to stardom. Will the same thing happen with Barbie? —Watch!

Interesting point

Another interesting point: Quite by chance, we were recently able to watch installments of an early “PBB” tilt on the Jeepney channel, with the then unknown likes of Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Matt Evans and a certain Niña (Jose) figuring strongly in its scenes. So, we have a fairly “refreshed” basis for comparing the 2015 “PBB” with how the tilt fared in the past.

—Which is why we say that the current edition has more “probable stars” than ever: In Kim’s group, some of the bets were too old, and indeed failed to make a dent and were subsequently forgotten.

—However, in the installments we were able to watch, aside from Kim, Niña also came across like a potential star—but she hasn’t been heard from of late. Whatever happened to her?

Back to the current “PBB” crop: The show’s controversial gambits have gotten it in dutch with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, so it’s been “behaving” since then. But, all told, Bailey is still the bone of contention, even as other male players are now being given more to do.

As for the teenage girls in the tilt, with Barbie gone (possibly not for keeps), the focus has now shifted to other lovely, young hopefuls like Zonia.
