SALEM, Oregon, United States — Journey drummer Deen Castronovo will remain in an Oregon jail after his indictment on charges of rape and other crimes.

A Marion County judge declined to set bail Tuesday after a prosecutor said the 50-year-old musician contacted the alleged victim following his June 14 arrest for misdemeanor assault and menacing.

Prosecutors allege Castronovo texted the woman 122 times and called her 35 times while under a court order not to contact her.

Castronovo has not entered a plea to the charges, which include assault, sexual abuse and unlawful use of a dangerous weapon,

In seeking the minimum bail, his attorney said Castronovo has no previous history of abuse.

Castronovo has been with Journey since 1998, when he replaced Steve Smith.
