Zoe Saldana’s husband Marco Perego takes her surname
American actress Zoe Saldana’s husband took the last name of his wife when they married in 2013.
In a recent interview on InStyle magazine, Saldana said she tried to convince her husband Marco Perego to reconsider his unconventional decision.
“I tried to talk him out of it. I told him, ‘If you use my name, you’re going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world,” Saldana said.
But the Italian artist replied: “Ah, Zoe, I don’t give a sh*t.”
Apart from confessing the decision of her husband, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star also shared the joys and struggles of raising her twin boys Cy and Bowie.
“Finally when we had our boys, I looked at my husband and I realized: I was meant for you and you were meant for me. I’ve always felt comfortable around men as long as they were friends. Now I finally feel comfortable with my lover. I don’t want to be separate. I want my church. I want to live inside the religion of our own little family,” Saldana said.
