Just four months after their wedding, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and wife, actress Heart Evangelista, are already planning to renew their vows next year, but hopefully this time, with the actress’ parents.

Evangalista’s parents— Reynaldo and Cecilia Ongpauco — were not present when their daughter got married with the senator at Balesin Island Club last February 15.

“It’s not a full blown wedding.  We’ll just renew our vows,” Escudero said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer on Wednesday.

He said it would be a simple occasion that would be held possibly in their house in Quezon City.

“Gusto lang n’ya (Heart)  may pictures kaming lahat , kasama ang parents ko (at) parents n’ya (Heart just wants pictures of all of us together—with my parents and her parents),” the senator said.

“Mas mahalaga masaya si Heart dahil matagal na nyang binibitbit at pinapasan ito. Malaking tinik ang nabunot sa kanya ika nga kaugnay nga nang pagkakabati-bati at pagkakayos…” he said.

(What matters is Heart’s happy because she has been carrying this baggage for a long time. It’s a big relief to her that everyone has made peace.)

Evangelista’s parents had publicly expressed their disapproval of Escudero, accusing him of being disrespectful and arrogant, and “manipulating” their daughter into “going against her family.”

But last month,  the actress started  posting  photos of her  parents  visiting  her at their residence  in  Quezon City.  That was the first time that Escudero said he and his in-laws talked with each other.

“Walang issue, walag mabigat na pinagusapan, normal lang at naging masaya ang pagsaama namin tapos  araw matapos n’un, pinagdiwang naman ng kanyang nanay ‘yung birthday n’ya at nag salu-salo ulit kami kasama ang mga kapatid n’ya. So all is well that ends well,” he said.

(We didn’t talk about big issues, it was a normal encounter, and a day after that, we celebrated her mother’s birthday with another dinner with her siblings. So all is well that ends well.) IDL
