Record label execs to collect royalties

The Sound Recording Rights Society or Soundsright, has been recently accredited as a collective management organization by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Composed of record label executives, Soundsright is tasked to collect royalties for the commercial use of published sound recordings on behalf of their copyright owners, under Section No. 209 of the Intellectual Property Code.

Present at the ceremony were IPOPHL officer in charge Allan Gepty, Optical Media Board chair Ronnie Ricketts and Soundsright president Marivic Benedicto (Star Recording/ABS-CBN Film Productions) and chair Ramon Chuaying (Universal Records/PolyEast Records). Other Soundsright officers include Rene Salta (GMA Records), Alvin de Vera (Alpha Music) and Tony Ocampo (Viva/Vicor Music). Allan Policarpio
