Filipina singer Rachelle Ann Go was chosen as the new “Fantine” in London’s West End production of the hit musical “Les Miserables.”
The announcement was made on Monday through the Les Miserables official Twitter account.
Before bagging the role of “Fantine,” Go was picked to play the role of “Gigi” in the West End revival of “Miss Saigon” where she won the Whatsonstage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical and Best Featured Actress in the BroadwayWorld West End awards.
Go took to Twitter to express her excitement for her new role.
Tony Award winner Lea Salonga once played the role of “Eponine” during the 10th anniversary production of Les Miserables in 1993.
Go will join the Les Miserables cast on June 15.
This year, Les Miserables will celebrate its 30th year in London.
Les Miserables, known for its memorable songs “I Dreamed A Dream”, “Bring Him Home”, “One Day More” and “On My Own,” has been seen by more than 70 million people in 43 countries and was performed in 22 languages around the globe. AJH/DPL
