Rachelle Ann Go, PH costars, ‘Miss Saigon’ win big in theatergoers’ choice awards
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino artists playing major roles in the popular musical “Miss Saigon” bagged several honors in the 15th annual WhatsOnStage Awards in London.
Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of Miss Saigon bagged a record nine trophies. It won Best Musical Revival and Best West End Show.
It’s lead Eva Noblezada, a 17-year-old Filipino-American, won Best Actress in a Musical while Rachelle Ann Go, who is a professional singer in Philippines, won Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.
Noblezada plays the character Kim – the same character which made Lea Salonga famous. Go, on the other hand, is cast as a bar girl named Gigi.
Filipino Jon Jon Briones, who has received accolades for his portrayal of The Engineer won Best Actor in a Musical.
