In an interview with Pep.PH which was published on Thursday, the 34-year-old actor said that he is focused on his career and in taking care of his pregnant wife, actress Marian Rivera.

“I have decided that I have no plan to run in any elected post because aside from my career in GMA, I’m also focused in serving the Filipino youth. And, of course, taking care of my wife and my coming baby,” Dantes said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“I’m categorically saying that I’m not running in any electoral post this 2016,” he added.

He said that he was “honored” to be considered on the shortlist for possible LP senatorial candidates.

Aside from Dantes, LP is said to be considering Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista, Manila City vice mayor “Isko Moreno,” Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino and Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo as its candidates for the Senate.
