Backstreet Boys MOA Arena-bound on May 5; Aliwan queens crowned
Few singers and artists of the past 20 years have made as great and lasting an impact on the international music and recording industry as the Backstreet Boys.
Formed in 1993 at a time of many new and innovative musical trends, the celebrated male vocal group immediately won the hearts of millions with its distinctively unique sound and style.
The association between Backstreet Boys and the boy band phenomenon ran deep, sustained by the group’s record-shattering hits and sold-out world tours.

Relive the vibrant era of the 1990s when Backstreet Boys performs at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on May 5.
Billed as “In a World Like This Tour,” the one-night treat from Ovation Productions and Live Nation is the Manila leg of the band’s current world tour in support of its first independent album of the same title.
To be featured as front act is Fil-Am singer-actress Tippy Dos Santos.
Backstreet Boys was last seen in Manila in 2012 when it teamed up with New Kids on the Block, to form the super group known as NKOTBSB which headlined a single sold-out gig at the Mall of Asia Arena, also produced by Ovation Productions.
On April 22, 2013, Backstreet Boys received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The band has sold over 130 million records worldwide.
Backstreet Boys is composed of Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson.

Aliwan Fiesta queen crowned
Stephanie Joy Abellanida, representing the Midsayap Halad Festival of North Cotabato, was crowned 2015 Reyna ng Aliwan in glittering ceremonies presented by Manila Broadcasting Company and Star City last Saturday night.
Alexandra Faith Garcia of Zambales emerged first runner-up, while Gazini Christiana Ganados of Cebu, Vianca Louise Marcelo of Bulacan, and Jaymee Lou Pagulayan of Isabela shared 2nd runner-up honors.
A bemedaled Ironman triathlon finisher, Garcia likewise took home prizes for Miss Photogenic and Best in Swimsuit, while Ganados was named Best in Evening Gown (Dazzling Beauty) and Marcelo brought home the award for Miss Unique Smile.
Dance Workshop
The Addlib, one of the premier dance companies in the Philippines, is preparing for the culmination of the Lab Summer Dance Workshops.
There will be Lab classes, taught by local and international teachers, until May 2.
