Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo, whose parents were rumored to be initially against her relationship with actor-athlete Matteo Guidicelli, said they had become “more accepting and understanding.”
“It’s important that people around me are also happy for me. That is also Matt’s wish…we wish for love, understanding and acceptance from both our families,” Sarah said on Tuesday during her launch as the first local female endorser of Jag Jeans, held at New World Hotel in Makati City.
Positive comments
In a previous interview, Matteo said his family adored Sarah, and that this pleased him to no end. To this, Sarah responded: “I’m thankful to Matteo’s family because [they] have always been very warm toward me. He is lucky to have a very welcoming and open-minded family.”
Sarah knows all about the positive comments from netizens about herself and Matteo. “Very encouraging,” she said. “I have taken a big leap. It’s a learning process for both Matt and me.”
Marriageable age
Asked to describe her relationship with Matteo, Sarah said: “We’re both very young when it comes to love matters. While I’m already at a marriageable age (she turns 27 in July), my knowledge about relationships is very limited. I consider myself a beginner. I admit that we also have misunderstandings sometimes but we always learn from them.” Matteo celebrated his 26th birthday in March.
Sarah added: “I hope that, whatever happens, [Matt and I] will remain respectful toward each other. We cannot predict the future. Even though I’ve had relationships in the past, this one with Matt is the only legit one. I’m hoping for him to be the last one for me—I pray for that every time—but I will still abide by God’s direction.”
Star-struck
She is currently making a film with fellow ABS-CBN contract artist Piolo Pascual, titled “The Breakup Playlist.” Directed by Dan Villegas (“English Only, Please”), the movie is about an aspiring musician who falls in love with her mentor.
Of her costar, Sarah said, “Working with Papa P (Piolo’s nickname) is awesome. Since we are in the same network, I didn’t think I’d still get star-struck, but I was. I was mesmerized. He’s so good-looking! It’s like he never gets old.”
