NY film school welcomes Filipino students

Filipino film enthusiasts seriously considering a career in the movie industry will have a chance to check out the New York Film Academy (NYFA) program when a top-ranked executive visits the country this month.

Kitty Koo, NYFA vice president for international relations, will be in Manila on April 16 to personally meet prospective students during a special session organized by International Education Specialists (Inter-Ed), a student-placement and career-mapping organization.

Recognized for its contributions to the film industry, NYFA is credited for the education and training of several acclaimed actors, actresses and directors.

Among the film icons who underwent the program are Steven Spielberg, Al Pacino, Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.

The academy offers a wide range of specializations and subjects: filmmaking, acting, producing, screen writing, 3D animation, broadcast journalism, digital photography and game design.

Also available are programs on media studies, fine arts and documentary production.

The classes emphasize hands-on learning and inspires creativity in the students. Each one of whom is urged to take an active role in class.
