This month, world records are to be set or broken in World Record Week, via cable channel History and its partners. A+E Network Asia Philippines country head Jacque Ruby said at the recent press launch, “Our partners are just as keen to strengthen the Philippines’ presence in the world records map.”
Ropali Motorcyles will try to break two world records. The first attempt will be in Kawayan, Isabela, on April 8, for “the largest parade of motorcycles with sidecars,” with 500 tricycles participating.
The next attempt is on April 11 at the Tagaytay Convention Center for “the largest burnout of motorcycle tires,” where 300 motorcycle riders will hold their front brakes while revving their engines, to cause back wheels to turn on the spot for at least three seconds. Aldous Rex Alingog, Ropali Motorcycles’ general manager, says they are promoting “motorcycle tourism” with this stunt.
The last four events will take place on April 12 at Market! Market! in Taguig.
Medical City will attempt to break the record for “the largest reunion of people born in the same hospital,” with 1,500 people held in a closed area for at least 10 minutes.
“The fastest time to eat a 12-inch pizza” challenge is aimed at creating a new record of 40 seconds or less, for Shakey’s Pizza’s 40th anniversary.
On the same day, OraCare will try to have 2,500 people simultaneously gargling for one minute, for “the most people using mouthwash” record.
The last event has never been attempted: Only the Philippines could try for “the most number of balut recipes” record. This will be presented by the Center for Culinary Arts. Tristan Encarnacion, celebrity chef, says the school will set this record to provide global awareness of Filipino cuisine.
