MANILA, Philippines–It was never her intention to offend or malign.
Actress and television host Toni Gonzaga apologized to those who felt that she detracted from the prestige of the 2015 Binibining Pilipinas due to her comedic and lighthearted style of hosting.
During a press conference for her upcoming movie “You’re the Boss” alongside fellow Kapamilya star Coco Martin, Gonzaga broke her silence on the issue.
“To those who were not pleased, of course there was an entire national debate on whether people liked or disliked what they saw,” Gonzaga said in a mixture of Filipino and English.
“First of all, for those who weren’t amused or didn’t like what they saw on Sunday, I am humbly asking for your forgiveness if I have offended or I have maligned or I have hurt any one of you,” she added.

She also said that the Binibining Pilipinas Committee commended her later that night via text for a job well done.
“Thank you very much. I really and truly appreciate that from the bottom of my heart,” Gonzaga said.
