MANILA, Philippines—The lawyer of Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla submitted to the police on Friday several sworn statements which could shed light on Saturday’s shooting incident that left the vice governor injured.
But the sworn statements submitted to the Muntinlupa police headquarters around 1 p.m. were not from Revilla nor from his mother, Lani, who rushed the vice governor to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center after the incident in their house in Ayala Alabang.
“The statements were from (Revilla’s) physician and nurses,” said Senior Supt. Allan Nobleza, officer in charge of the city police.
Nobleza said that Revilla’s lawyer Jeff Zarate had promised that the Revilla family would submit their affidavits “in due time.”
As to the contents of the sworn statements, Nobleza said he was “not at liberty” to disclose them, but said that in essence they described the circumstances when the vice governor was rushed to the hospital due to a gunshot wound in the upper right chest.
“So they described what they saw in his clothes, his skin, if there was any blood,” Nobleza explained.
While the police were still “collating pieces of evidence or material facts” that they “could incorporate” into the results of the investigation, Nobleza said that a paraffin test would no longer be conducted on the vice governor.
He said this was because the 72-hour period within which this should have been done had already lapsed.
Nobleza said the results of the probe, including their “recommendations,” would be available on Monday.
