Kris on failed romance with Herbert: ‘It’s fair for my heart to be broken’

MANILA, Philippines—Presidential sister and TV personality Kris Aquino on Monday said that experiencing heartbreak from Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista was only “fair”.

“I’ve had my share also of hearts that I have broken so patas lang naman (it is only fair) for my heart to be broken,” Aquino said in an interview during the sidelines of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Women’s Month celebration.

During her speech, she joked about the possible programs for the city’s policemen and their families had they become a couple.

“Truthfully, I’m here super early on a Monday even if I received this invitation just two days ago, not because isusumbong ko sa inyo na yung (I would reveal that your) Mayor ninyo broke my heart,” she said.

“Sayang, kung nagkatuluyan lang, sobrang bongga sana ang mga (It’s a shame. Had we become a couple, imagine the wonderful) programs that I could have initiated with the private sector to help QCPD, most especially for your spouses and children,” Aquino added.

“Oh well, move on na tayo,” (Let’s just move on) she concluded.

After the speech, the actress said that poking fun at her failed romance with the mayor was an indication that she already moved on a year after Bautista broke up with her.

“Siguro if you can joke about it, okay na.” (If you can joke about it, you’re already okay.)

Aquino recently shared a detailed account of her rollercoaster romance with Bautista, revealing that she said “Yes” to the mayor’s marriage proposal.

She added that writing about her experience was her way of ending that chapter of her life.

“It has been a year, nanahimik ako. Sa mga babae, di ba kailangan mo ng closure? Siguro that is my version of closure,” she said. (It’s been a year, I kept silent. Women need closure. Maybe, that is my version of closure.) AJH
