MERILYN CHUA, housewife: “Lately, Regine Velasquez has been having a hard time reaching extremely high notes. She revealed this in an interview recently. She should rethink her singing style and birit (belt) less—because, with her accomplishments, she has nothing more to prove. It’s also more relaxing and less stressful to the ears.”
Other notes:
Jose Mari Maycacayan, marketing consultant: “Christian Vasquez is very good in ‘Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,’ while Jean Garcia’s timing and delivery are impeccable in ‘Half-Sisters.’ And James Blanco is a delight in ‘Yagit.’ They deserve more challenging roles.”
Too expensive
Lorna Manila, development planner: “It’s been a while since I’ve watched a movie on the big screen, because ticket prices are too expensive. Recently, I tagged along with my sister and nieces to watch ‘That Thing Called Tadhana’ and was impressed. The plot is simple, and the performances of Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman are effortless in Antoinette Jadaone’s well-written and witty rom-com.”
Jonathan Catunao, engineer: “‘Forevermore’ is made more appealing by the supporting odd couple, Bangky (Nonong de Andres) and Lola Aunor (Lilia Cuntapay).”
Ana Aday, accountant: “I hope Star Cinema, Regal or Viva Films will cast Hilda Koronel and Dawn Zulueta in their forthcoming films—and not just as decorative supports. It’s time to bring them back to the big screen. Enough of the usual actresses we often see in tiresome ‘teleseryes.’”
