Bored sultry star turns back on lucrative deal for love

PIOLO Pascual says maybe it’s not the right time for a movie with Sarah Geronimo.

Sultry Star must really be in love. SS was offered a lucrative deal by current studio but was unimpressed. The project was not worth her while, she thought, and decided she’d rather focus on her love life.

Or is this a case of “you’re fired … I quit” dramatics? SS’ career is actually in limbo after she suffered a string of flops. Perhaps SS opted for a graceful exit instead of enduring yet another monumental misfire.

Perhaps SS sees a brighter future on the domestic front. After all, bored SS has reached a career impasse.

Something in common

What do Handsome Heartthrob and Perky Star have in common? Both had their start in the biz in rather messy circumstances.

PS got embroiled in a sexual harassment issue. To hush her up, bosses offered fame and fortune on a silver platter.

HH was purportedly victimized by Notorious Insider, too. To make sure he would not rock the boat (report NI to the police), execs pulled out all the stops to make him popular.

JANINE Gutierrez would like to ask Pope Francis to pray for the country.

It worked.

Uninvited

Bosses asked Major Star to go through the guest list for a huge event. MS allegedly asked that Talented Performer be stricken off the list.

MS used to be fond of TP. MS even vouched for TP in the past, but it seems things have changed. Blame it on a boo-boo that was so unforgivable, it merited such strong reaction.

Profile pic

This comes straight from Hollywood.

Hunky Hotshot went the extra mile for a pictorial—shaved his face; in fact, waxed his entire body. Ouch!

(No wonder hirsute HH looks smooth and slick these days.)

Alas, HH was not satisfied with his portrait. He has always had a problem with his profile—saying his nose is not straight, and his chin, not that perfect.

WYNWYN Marquez’s decision to join a pageant “shocked” her dad.

Actually, HH is a looker. Why is he so insecure? His handlers assured HH that the pics would be Photoshopped to give him the profile pic of his dreams.

You’re so vain!

Count of Mediocrity

From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera: Cute Hunk can’t emote his way out of a wet paper bag.

But brazen CH had the gall to complain that he was not given enough dramatic scenes in his latest project.

CH is often the cause of delay during shoots because he fumbles his lines and can’t cry on cue. Still, clueless CH was unhappy that Pretty Partner had more dramatic highlights than he did.

Yes, snarky CH actually counted and compared his sequences with PP’s—and made sure the bosses knew of his dissatisfaction.

Call CH the Count of Mediocrity. Or Talentless Contessa.

Top of the Talk Shows

For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (and why we are moved, if we are moved):

ALDEN Richards prays for the Pope’s good health.

Atty. King Rodrigo, husband of Boots Anson-Roa, on how he felt before meeting Pope Francis: “Nervousness, elation—halo-halo na!” (Sarrrap!)

Vice Ganda on his MMFF entry “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” topping the box-office race: “’Di ko pa alam kung ano ang bibilin ko sa bonus ko!” (Try something you cannot really buy.)

Piolo Pascual on son Iñigo having a tough time juggling studies and show biz: “He’s complaining. Sabi niya nahihirapan siya sa online school. Sabi ko: Gusto mo ’yan di ba? ’Di mo kailangang mag-artista, tapusin mo high school mo… pero pinagsabay mo. You have to set your priorities straight.’” (You know what, Papa? We’re with you on this.)

Piolo on his planned movie with Sarah Geronimo not pushing through: “I really want to work with her, but maybe this is not the right time.” (Right attitude.)

Wynwyn Marquez on how parents Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno reacted to her joining Binibining Pilipinas: “My dad was shocked kasi ’di niya alam na sumali ako; biglaan na desisyon. But my mommy is super happy and excited.” (Of course. And of course!)

PIA WURTZBACH photo: BINIBINING PILIPINAS

Pia Wurtzbach on joining the pageant for the third time: “Ayoko magsisi, eh. Ayoko na, pagtanda ko, iisipin ko, paano kung sumali ako ulit? Gusto kong ma-try ngayon kahit na ano’ng mangyari.” (Third time’s the charm, maybe. )

Janine Gutierrez on what she’d ask of Pope Francis, given the chance: “Sana palagi niya tayong ipagdasal na mga Pilipino. We have individual hopes and dreams, pero siyempre gusto nating bumangon as a country.” (A young person with her head where it should be. Rare.)

Alden Richards on what he’d ask the Pontiff, again given the chance: “Sana maintain lang ang good health, happiness at walang masyadong dumating na disasters.” (Speaking of which, here comes another potential one. )

Sancho de las Alas on mom Ai-Ai: “Kami ang partners-in-crime… parang barkada ko si Mama kaya sobra ang pagiging close namin.” (Moms just love hearing this.)

Eric Quizon on Zsa Zsa Padilla finding a new love: “We’re all happy for her. Zsa Zsa went through a lot… her love for my dad (Dolphy) will never die. It’s just that she’s a woman who has to move on. She can’t dwell on the past. She has to have a life.” (Well said.)
