‘Green Day’ guitarist diagnosed with tonsil cancer

MANILA, Philippines—Jason White, the guitarist of punk rock band “Green Day”, has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

In a statement posted on their website last Saturday, the band asked their fans to send “love and positive healing vibes” for White’s recovery.

The Green Day guitarist discovered the disease after undergoing a routine tonsillectomy.

The band was quick to allay fears on White’s condition, stating that the tonsil cancer was treatable.

“Thankfully they (doctors) caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery, ” the statement read.

White became a full member of the five-time Grammy award-winning band in 2012 after becoming a touring guitarist for 13 years.

The band, which was famous for its hits like “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, “21 Guns”, and “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, has sold more than 75 million copies worldwide.
