Alden Richards is looking for a girl who will support him 100 percent.

GMA 7’s   reality talent search, “Bet ng Bayan” is in its final stretch. (It airs Sundays 9:40 p.m., with updates from Monday to Friday, 10:05 p.m.)

Excitement builds as the countdown for the grand finals on Dec. 28 begins. The Mega Manila and Luzon semifinalists have been chosen. Will the Visayas and Mindanao hopefuls outshine them? The show’s hosts, Regine Velasquez and Alden Richards, are cheering them on with every high note, dance step and stunt along the way.

Here’s my one-on-one with Alden:

Based on your experiences as a newbie in the biz, what advice did you give the contestants?

Never give up, always hold on to your dreams. Hard work never fails. Just keep pushing and put God first in everything.

Now that you’ve got your dream house, what are your other long-term goals?

Stability and a happy, contented life.

What’s the worst intrigue you’ve heard about you so far?

None so far. I don’t take intrigues seriously because it’s part of the business. I just have to learn to live with it.

What kind of girl will make you prioritize love?

A girl who will support me 100 percent in everything that I do. Someone who is understanding and God-fearing. But for now, my career comes first.

Blossoming Iya

Even though Iya Villania is now a married woman, she says she maintains her fabulous figure by taking RedoXfat, a slimming supplement.

Life with hubby Drew Arellano has made Iya bloom all the more. That’s what marrying your best friend can do.

Here’s my tête-à-tête with Iya:

What’s something new that you learned about Drew after you got married?

I learned that he enjoys cooking at home. Also, that he likes to leave cabinet doors open and his used, wet cycling clothes on the floor.

What’s the toughest part about marriage?

Married life has not posed problems for Iya Villania.

None. Love everything about it, even all the adjustments.

When do you and Drew plan to have kids?

We plan to start trying for kids at the end of 2016. We’re hoping for three.

Any cute anecdotes about you as a married couple?

Drew does the cooking, while I do the cleaning and hammering of broken things at home. In short, our chores as husband and wife are reversed. We are like lolo and lola because we sleep by 9 p.m. and wake up at 5 a.m.

Award for Kapamilya boss

ABS-CBN chair Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III was honored with a special award, the Tanglaw ng Araw award, for promoting good Filipino values at the 9th Araw Values Awards, where the Kapamilya network won five citations.

ABS-CBN’s News’ TV commercial “Tumayo Para sa Bayan” won a silver and a bronze in the categories Respect for Laws and Authority and Promotion of Self-Discipline and Love of Country and Respect for National Customs, respectively.

Meanwhile, the “Buong Puwersa, Buong Bayan” campaign earned a bronze and “Agosto 21 Documentary: Salamin” bagged a silver in the Commitment to Truth, Honesty and Integrity category.

“Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na,” a campaign launched after Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” received a silver award in the Love of Country and Respect for National Customs and Traditions category.

The Araw Values Advertising Awards is unique among other bodies because it gives importance to the principles that an ad campaign communicates, particularly the seven Araw Cornerstone Values.

Shine on, Kapamilya!
