THE SINGER says she sees nothing wrong with cosmetic procedures.

Singer Lani Misalucha, who’s open about having undergone cosmetic procedures, said that she doesn’t worry about what people think of her current look.

“It’s my choice. If it’s something that enhances your features and improves your appearance… I don’t see anything wrong,” Lani told reporters at a recent press conference for her concert, “La Nightingale,” on Dec. 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“If noncelebrities do it, why not us who are constantly seen on television?” said Lani, adding that she has nothing to feel ashamed of. “Bakit naman,” said the artist, who admitted she had her nose and teeth fixed and her her eye bags removed.

The 45-year-old recording artist insisted that no one talked her into having plastic surgery. “I wanted to feel good about myself.” She related that the idea first crossed her mind when she was with GMA 7, years ago.

“My makeup artist used to have trouble shading my nose. At one point, I told her, ‘I’ll have it fixed so we won’t have a hard time anymore,” Lani recounted. “But it wasn’t until after I moved to Las Vegas [in 2004] that I decided to push through with it.”

Asked if she wasn’t afraid that her nose job would affect her singing voice, Lani said, “Not really. Everything I’ve done so far is external.”

One more

While already pleased with her looks, Lani said, she’s mulling a procedure that will facilitate weight loss. “Once I hit 40, it became increasingly difficult to manage my weight, despite having the same lifestyle as when I was younger,” she pointed out.

“One has to work, exercise and get proper nutrition, which I don’t always get to do,” admitted Lani, who may return next year to Vegas, where she scored regular stints in such hotels as Bally’s, the Flamingo and the Hilton.

As for her Big Dome show, Lani said her repertoire, as always, will have a little bit of everything—pop, jazz, classical and more. “I always incorporate classical music in my concerts because it’s my first love. One of the first songs I learned was ‘Ave Maria.’”

‘Wow’ factor

Production-wise, Lani and her team hope to mount a number with a Cirque du Soleil vibe. “We want something that will wow the audience.” She’s likewise excited to perform with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Gerard Salonga.

“La Nightingale: Lani Misalucha Return Concert” is produced by ABS-CBN Integrated Events and Star Events; for tickets, call TicketNet at 9115555.
