Celebrating with Kell, Wolfgang, and Glass Cherry Breakers

/ 04:10 PM November 05, 2014

MANILA, Philippines – Before October ended, INQUIRER.net, the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s online body, celebrated its 17th year in digital media.

During the anniversary celebration, the company’s milestones as well as the entire team’s burning desire to champion every challenge that is to come in the industry were highlighted.

The news organization’s newly appointed Editor-in-Chief (EIC), John Nery, particularly mentioned three breakthroughs, among others, for INQUIRER.net this year:

Following Nery was INQUIRER.net’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gary Libby, whose main message to the team that night was to continue to deliver credible performance while still aiming for higher peaks.

Also in attendance during the momentous night were INQUIRER.net Online Publisher Abel Ulanday, Inquirer Interactive Inc. President Paolo Prieto, Inquirer President and Chief Executive Officer Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, and Inquirer board chair Marixi Rufino-Prieto.

A night of fun with acoustic, blues, and rock

When the formalities ended, the INQUIRER.net team, which for the night was gathered not for a general assembly but just for fun, was serenaded by former South Border member Kell Gatdula.

Gatdula, whose set included some of today’s biggest hits, caused a surge of nostalgia as the music treat he brought to the table sounded familiar – thanks to that distinct South Border tang – though relatively new as the songs he sang belonged to a younger generation of records.

Next to him was the record-breaking ‘90s rock band, Wolfgang.

With its new line-up, Wolfgang brought the house down, especially with its crowd-favorite hits “Halik ni Hudas” and “Center of the Sun”. Wolfgang frontman Basti Artadi even gave away signed CD albums to select – and very lucky – INQUIRER.net people.

After getting lost in thought (headbanging and jumping to classic Wolfgang tracks), everyone then had just the right music company with Glass Cherry Breakers (GCB).

GCB is a blues and classic rock band composed of Maegan Aguilar (vocals), Sammy Asuncion (guitar), Louie Talan (bass), Niki Cabardo (keyboard), and Boyet Aquino (drums). The group recently won the 3rd Philippine Blues Competition which, in result, serves as its ticket to an all-expense-paid participation in the 31st International Blues Challenge to be held at Memphis in Tennessee early next year.
