Comedy Manila takes ‘United Colors of Comedy’ to UP
MANILA, Philippines–After invading De La Salle University Manila in March and Ateneo de Manila University in August, Comedy Manila once again hit the road with its United Colors of Comedy (UCOC) tour and this time, it was the University of the Philippines (U.P) in Diliman that experienced the comedy show production’s revolutionized brand of stand-up.
Comedy Manila was welcomed by the Maroons at the U.P. Film Center Friday night (October 17), but prior to this, the production first did a classroom tour which ran for five days. According to Comedy Manila Co-Founder Eri Neeman, they were able to visit around 40-50 classrooms during their campus tour in U.P.
Warm reception
Asked how the U.P. crowd’s reception was towards their classroom shows, Neeman said: “It was awesome. They accepted it right away. Most never experienced this style of stand-up [comedy] before, but we just told our jokes and they laughed.”
Meanwhile in behalf of Comedy Manila, Neeman agreed when asked if the experience is also something that is transcending for them. “Absolutely, we couldn’t be happier with how the classroom tours went. Seeing students get excited for the kind of comedy that we do and being able to connect with them that way was just great. We loved it,” he explained.

That’s right, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) is next in line and according to Neeman, UCOC will not end in UST as they plan to visit all universities in the metro.
In fact, he is encouraging student organizations to send Comedy Manila messages on Facebook so they would know which school to visit next.
Moreover, a Comedy Festival is slated next year. “We are hyped for 2015. It looks bigger and better for stand-up comedy in our country. Exciting times to say the least!!”, Neeman told INQUIRER.net.
Comedy Manila is composed of comedians Victor Anastacio, James Caraan, Red Ollero, Ryan Sarita, Alex Calleja, and Co-Founders Eri Neeman and GB Labrador.
