MANILA, Philippines—Messages of mourning from celebrities and netizens poured in on social media for Tia Pusit as the veteran comedienne succumbed to kidney and heart complications on Thursday night.

Tia Pusit, Myrna Villanueva in real life, died due to kidney failure and aortic aneurysm after suffering from medical complications while she was confined at the Philippine Heart Center.

She passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 2. She was 66.

According to her son Christian Uybengkee, she had two episodes of stroke, blood clots with little brain activity and her kidney was “failing rapidly” after she underwent a double bypass surgery in September.

Tia Pusit played the role of Soledad, Chiu’s nanny in her primetime show “Ikaw Lamang (Book 1).”

She is an older sister of veteran actress Nova Villa. She was survived by her four children.

Celebrities, including Kim Chiu, posted on Instagram a message to the actress: “#RestInPeace [Tia] Pusit.. thank you for being so nice to me (I) had so much working with you Nana Soledad. This photo was taken few months ago #ikawlamangbook1 when we’re goofing around to make ourselves awake kasi 3 a.m. na to tas joke kayo ng joke… love u [Tia Pusit]! you will be missed..”

A benefit concert was staged for Sunday at the Zirkoh in Morato, Quezon City. Despite her death, the show would push through to pay tribute to the comedienne.

In April last year, reports surfaced that Tia Pusit had a boyfriend more than 30 years younger than her. She confirmed this and said she had met 27-year-old Nathan Villa through the social networking site Facebook.

She described Villa, who works as a call center agent, as a “masigasig” (ardent) suitor.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, the actress said she and her boyfriend had plans of marrying.

But in December the same year, the couple reportedly broke up due to personal differences.

Her last project was “Confessions of a Torpe” on TV5 with Ogie Alcasid.

Among the more than a dozen movies she acted in were: “A Journey Home” (2009), “Bakit ba Ganyan (Ewan ko nga ba, Darling)” (2000), “Huwag na Huwag kang Lalapit Darling” (1997) and “Hulihin si…Nardong Toothpick (1990).
