‘Purok 7’ wins in Frankfurt

Filipino filmmaker Carlo Obispo’s “Purok 7” won Best Full-Length Feature at the Lucas Children’s Film Festival in Frankfurt, Germany (Sept. 21 to 29).

The jury cited the Cinemalaya 2013 film’s “incredible authenticity … [it] lets us discover a country and its people.”

“Purok 7” was shown at the Hamburg Film Fest, too. Next stop is the Calgary IFF in Canada.

It will compete at the Scottsdale IFF and Orlando IFF in the United States, International Young Audience Festival in Poland and the Cinepaenz Children’s Fest in Cologne, Germany. Bayani San Diego Jr.
