It was just a matter time.

More than a year after a very public spat that left them estranged, international recording artist Charice has finally reconciled with her mother, Raquel Pempengco.

In a statement sent to the Inquirer, Charice’s manager Glenn Aldueza related that the 22-year-old singer and Raquel were now living together in the latter’s house in Cabuyao, Laguna. “They’re singing happy songs again, so to speak,” he said. “Charice is back in her mother’s arms.”

Aldueza added that, on Sept. 6, Raquel went to the airport to pick up Charice, who had gone on a series of concerts for five months in the United States, Canada and Australia, as part of a world tour.

Following Charice’s confession on national television last year that she is a lesbian, her mother publicly expressed strong disapproval of her daughter’s girlfriend, Alyssa Quijano, Charice’s occasional rival in past singing competitions.

In a multiplatform interview with the Inquirer a month after that squabble, Charice said she was giving her mother and younger brother Carl all the time they needed to sort out their turbulent relationship.

Time did seem to heal the wounds.

Earlier this month, Charice surprised her followers on Instagram when she uploaded a photo of herself with Raquel, Carl and Alyssa, with the caption: “Monthsary celebration with family.”

For detractors, the singer left some biting words in the same post: “For those people who doubted and thought that we wouldn’t be OK—s—- you all. Now shut up, move on, and let us live our lives as one happy family.”
