MANILA, Philippines—Now it’s more than a cult following.

After a one-week screening in selected cinemas in Metro Manila, Lav Diaz’s “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan” will have an extended run until September 23 exclusively at Glorietta 4 and Trinoma cinemas, the film’s official Facebook account announced Tuesday evening.

Starting Wednesday, it will continue to screen daily in Glorietta 4 at 12:30 pm and in Trinoma at 12:10 pm, said the announcement quoting Ayala Malls Cinemas.

“Norte” won Best Picture, Best Actress (for Angeli Bayani), Best Screeplay (for Diaz and Rody Vera) awards in this year’s Gawad Urian.

Besides other citations from abroad, it recently won Best Picture at the Pancevo (Serbia) Film Festival. The jury cited Diaz for “[confronting] the questions posed by Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s ‘Crime and Punishment’ with contemporary and different ideological concepts.”

Besides Bayani, it is topbilled by Sid Lucero, Perry Dizon, Kristine Kintana, Hazel Orencio, Archie Alemania, Soliman Cruz, Angelina Kanapi and Mae Paner.
